Our Natural Dye Garden!

This summer has provided us with some time to begin our natural dye garden and so far things are going pretty well. We have meadowsweet (which is struggling along), safflower, and amaranth flower (which is really taking off). Hopefully we will be able to add more species in the future and find a place to bed our current plants soon because they are quickly outgrowing the containers that they are in. This year should prove to be an interesting one for dyeing!

If you are interested in natural dyeing a great resource is Natural Dyes International:

I would also like to thank the Friends of Poquessing Watershed on behalf of the Fiber Area for their much appreciated contribution to the project.
