Call for members
NEXUS seeks experimental artists in ALL disciplines including but not limited to painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation, video, performance, electronics, digital media, audio, dance or curatorial practices. NEXUS values artist members who are dynamic, willing to take risks, dedicated to their work and enjoy being part of a community of artists. NEXUS members are given the opportunity to exhibit their work once every two years in solo exhibitions, participate in group exhibitions and curate large scale exhibitions. SUPERGIRL! is an exhibition of female video artists who represent
themselves as superheroes, uber-women, meca-warriors and transforming
characters. SUPERGIRL! supports the idea that the female super hero is
elusive and constantly evolving. She battles her adversaries, her
environment, and her preconceptions as well as herself.
Upcoming Exhibitions
Join NEXUS for a pluralistically curated exhibition My Face in Your Space opening Thursday September 10, 2009. My Face in Your Space is the gallery equivalent of facebook: selected artists created portraits of friends and acquaintances with the agreement that their portraitees would reciprocate and create portraits of the artist. Once these portraitees are in the network, they may create portraits of whomever they like under the same agreement. Through October 2.
